ACA Student Poster Session - Kissimmee, Florida - 2009

;

We are indebted to the following for their generous support of the ACA Student Poster session in Kissimmee:

--1) North American Association of Wardens and Superintendents
--2) Ohio Wardens and Superintendents Association
--3) University of Arkansas at Little Rock / Juvenile Justice Center

Here are a few of the highlights.

The papers this year, while small in number, were of exceptionally high quality, all from graduate students. Amanda's poster on Restorative Justice won first place and Jennifer took second. Both are graduate students from the University of Central Missouri. Fran and Tommy discuss Amanda's poster with an ACA member, while Linda, a member of NIU-ACA, talks to Amanda, with Jennifer explaining hers in the background.

NIU's Aimie and Kathryn from Northern Illinois Univesrity presented their paper on faith-based learning, and Steve and Vanessa from the University of Central Florida discuss their research on the effects of fatherless homes on delinquency. Richard Hart, an alumnus of NIU and now active in community corrections the ACA, greets curren NIU students Aimie and Kathryn.

Of course, there is always time for relaxation. Amanda and Jennifer celebrate their papers at a lively dinner, while Fran, Vicky, and Karon discuss the days events. Jim sits between Paola and Eddie, both from the University of Illinois/Chicago, who are celebrating the acceptance of the UIC Criminal Justice Club as the newest ACA student chapter.
