Mission Statement

The UIC Criminal Justice Society (CJS) is dedicated to inspiring interest and understanding of all aspects of the criminal justice system and related fields, including, but not limited to, the social justice field. UIC-CJS emphasizes scholarship, activism, university and community service, and the development of academic skills and professional development among others. We explore the multitude of the system's branches and disciplines through education and activities such as field trips, teach-ins, conferences, and collaboration with criminal justice associations, both in and outside of educational institutions. Because of the breadth of criminal justice, we encourage the involvement of all students from different fields of study so that we may foster union of ideas, community, and networking. It is open to any University of Illinois/Chicago student in good standing.
