1. The first CJS hosted event for the spring semester will be a Student Faculty Mixer
a. Wednesday, February 18, 2009
b. Potential speakers from both the Criminology, Law and Justice Department and the Sociology Department have been picked.
c. The forms for room reservations have already been completed and turned in.
d. Sherie will be taking care of the room and catering.
e. Paola will be responsible for corresponding with the professors and making invitations.
f. After the room reservation is confirmed, forms need to be completed for funding and catering.
g. All signage will need approval.
2. Student Recruitment
a. We will be visiting introductory CLJ and SOC classes to announce CJS and recruit students.
3. Convene with NIU-ACA
a. Potluck during week of UIC spring break?
b. Other events:
i. ACA Summer Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, August 2009
ii. Trip to Angola
iii. Trip to the Body Farm
iv. NIU-UIC end of the school year bash
4. Facility/Prison Tour
a. If members are available, we will schedule the facility/prison tour during spring break as well.
5. Volunteer Opportunities
a. Possible locations
ii. Salvation Army
iii. Safer Foundation
6. Revise Constitution
a. Include a membership fee to cover ACA student chapter fees
b. Modify any sections necessary
c. Allow alumni to join/stay in UIC-CJS
7. Possibility of Formal Elections
a. To be held prior to Student-Faculty Mixer
b. New officers will be taking over CJS business for the rest of the Spring 2009 semester as well as for 2009-2010 school year
c. New officers will/can serve as committee chairs and pick their committee members
d. Elections will be held online
